Hey everybody, thanks for joining this Ball Five Podcast recap. I'm your host, Scott Livingstone, and let's take a look at the Aggie Georgia series. Georgia comes in number seven, Aggie's number 23, ranked by D1 baseball. Unfortunately, we lost the home series, but we did salvage the last game after losing the first two. Avoiding a sweep from Georgia was paramount for Sunday's game. So Georgia took game one Friday night, 9-4. Georgia came in known for their home run power, and they showed that in the top of the first with a three-run home run to jump to an early lead, pushing across one more in the second to make it four to nothing. The bottom of two, uh, Grahovac single to center, plated Keel and Dewar, both of whom had walked, bringing a score to four to two. Another Georgia homer in the top of the third made it five to two. Sadeo settled down the next few innings with he, Vargas, and Darden holding the offense at bay until Georgia broke through for two more runs in the eighth for a 7-2 lead. Georgia added two more in the ninth via, believe it or not, another home run for a 9-2 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, a Grahovac single and an Akopian single played at one each for a final score of 9-4. Grahovac and Sorrell both had two hits apiece, with Grahovac adding three RBIs. Sedeo's line finished with uh five and two thirds inning pitch, nine hits, five runs on 112 pitches, and he had 11K's. So he did settle down there inside of that game for a little bit in the uh middle innings, but unfortunately, Georgia was already out there ahead of us. All right, so game two, Georgia won eight to two. Guess what? They did. They hit six home runs. Imagine that. Five solos, which brought in seven runs for Georgia, and they later added an RBI single for the final run, making it eight to two. Aggies had eight hits. Uh Sorrell and Akopian had each had an RBI apiece. And, you know, we we also struck out 11 times. We were fishing at some balls in the dirt, but you know, they had a pretty good bullpen. Guys had some live arms and some pretty good breaking stuff. So they threw some curveballs and sliders and stuff in there for strikes, but then also knew when to bounce one in the in the ground. And seems like uh a lot of times when that happened, we had guys on base and it just didn't work out for us. Sorrell and dewer and partita each had two hits in that game. Look, George's starting pitching in game one and two was okay. Friday's guy went one and a third. He got wild, got pulled. Game two guy was I mean, he was okay. He went four innings, but it was their bullpen that pretty much saved it for them, having to go more innings than probably they usually do. And I think that set up for the blowout on Sunday's game as maybe their bullpen was a little taxed or they didn't have the arms, and maybe they just didn't have the depth. And uh, so you know that's how that ended up. But on our end, uh Moss, I mean, he struggled some, giving up those home runs. Uh, he gave up five hits, four runs, one walk, four K's. He hit a batter in three and a third innings. Game three. Yeah. That's a nice little bounce back for the weekend with the Aggs putting it on the Bulldogs 18-5. It was still within reach going into the bottom of the fourth. I mean, it was a 6-1 score, and the way those guys bang the ball around the ballpark, and especially with the wind blowing out, you never know at Bluebell. But uh Nico Partita had something to say about that, and he struck for a grand slam over the right field wall for a 10-1 lead. The bottom of the fifth saw the Aggie hitters bat around, man. There's a fight at the bat rack. Everybody's ready to get to home plate and do some damage. Uh that frame ended 17-1, and with one more in the six for uh 18-3 lead, and it finished up 18-5 for the run rule. Aiden Sims did a masterful job holding that potent offense down for five innings, giving up a home run in the second, and the other two runs came late after that long fifth inning by the Aggies, and I mean it might have taken its toll on Sims, getting him out of his rhythm a little bit. I'm sure he threw a weighted ball underneath the stadium, went to the bullpen, maybe threw a couple pitches. But, you know, it's it's it's you got to figure out a way to stay warm and be able to go back in. I wasn't sure if he was going back in or not, but you know, they have their reasons for putting guys back in and pitching them when they do. So anyway, he uh did a masterful job holding those guys down, and uh it was really, really good to see for a Sunday win. So, all in all, we avoided a sweep, which is good, but still a little disappointing weekend that we lost the series. All right, so next up, Houston Christian on Tuesday, and then a three-game set at Missouri this next weekend. So we should handle Houston Christian, I hope, and then uh maybe what do you say, deliver a little payback to Missouri? Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Right now, Missouri sits at a 16-8 overall record. Not bad. Sounds a little better than last year, I think. But they're uh so one and five in conference. They got swept opening weekend of conference by Auburn, losing two to nothing, four to three and ten, and nine to two. And Auburn's no slouch, so the Missouri team may be a little better than they were last year, although they did sweep us at home. They played very well. We played didn't play very well. But overall, from last year to this year, the they seem to have a little bit more talent. Their lone conference win came at Tennessee, which, you know, they're kind of struggling a little bit, losing their coach, but they're finding their way. They ended up winning the next two games. Um, let's see. Missouri won the first one eight to four, and then Tennessee took the last two, four to two and seven to one. I mean, these are the games that we really need to take advantage of and grab at least two, if not all three, in Missouri. As a team, they're hitting 297 with 22 home runs and 39 stolen bases. So they got some pop and some speed, and you know, so it's not a team to take lightly, and I know we won't. Their starting pitching seems to be a little better. Opponents are batting 157, 194, and 232. That's against their starting three. That's overall. So I don't have the numbers against Auburn and Tennessee broken down, so those numbers are probably a little higher based on uh conference versus overall. So, like I said, the starting pitching looks to be what keeps them in the game. So if we can get to their starters early and force them out of the game, our percentage of winning goes way up.
