Hey everybody, thanks for joining the Fall of Five Podcast. I'm your host, Scott Livingstone. Alright, so let's jump right into this recap of the Missouri weekend. Aggs took the series 3-0. Nice little sweep with scores of uh 11-9 in game one, 14-6 in game two, and in game three, a 14-3 win in seven innings via the run rule. That sits us at five and four in the conference. Uh in game one, with plenty of help from the Missouri pitching staff, they allowed 11 walks and four hit batters. I mean, you could throw at four batters in a game and still maybe not hit four. The Aggies offense, I mean, they complemented that. I mean, they had a seven-run fourth inning. A single in the first inning by Nico Partita, played at Gavin Grahovac, whom had been hit by a pitch and stole second and made it one to nothing. Missouri broke through for one in the bottom of the second. And as I mentioned, a seven-run fourth inning started with a Jorian Wilson solo home run, followed by a Boston counter double, Grahovac walk, and Caden Sorrell launched his 13th home run of the year. And a copian double, a partito walk, some stolen bases, some wild pitches, throwing errors, more walks. You kind of see the pattern here. Jorian Wilson added a double, bringing it to eight to one. In the fifth, a Terrence Keel single scored two after more walks and another hit by pitch, uh, checking in at 10 to 1. Uh sitting at home, I was kind of wanting a 10-run rule for a shortened game. But uh the Tigers, they dropped six runs on us in the bottom of five. And then they got two more in the seventh to make it 10-9. They tried to make a little run at us. And shockingly enough, when the game was on the line, the Missouri Pitchers hit another guy, walked one, and we ended up scoring a runoff of that and making it 11-9. Jorian Wilson was the only Aggie with two hits during uh, I'm sorry, driving in three runs, with Sorrell adding another three RBIs on his home run. So 11 walks, four hit batters. I mean, wow. Like I said before, you could try and throw up four in a game, but you may not even hit them. So it's kind of uh interesting to watch their pitchers pitch and struggle like they did. Uh Sedeo went four and two thirds, nine hits, seven runs, two walks, four K's on 82 pitches. Vargas, Darden, and Lions, they took care of the middle innings there. And Freshcorn came in and took two innings for the save with Vargas getting the win. So catching my breath a little bit after all those walks and hit batters. Uh is a little bit more like the Aggs, winning 14-6. But guess what? Surprisingly, Missouri Pitchers walked the leadoff guy, Gavin Grahovac, a single by a Kopian, and Dewar plates Gavin with a partita fielder's choice scoring a Kopian for a 2-0 lead. Missouri pushed one across in the bottom of the second for a 2-1 score. So, like the day before, the Aggs exploded for another seven-run inning. Uh it's pretty cool. They did that in the third. Singles by Kopian and Sorrell, a double by Dewar and Shocker, hit by pitch. Uh Benderup got hit, uh walk to keel and bear, and a counter-sack fly. Few stolen bases followed, and the big back breaker was Gavin Grahovac's three-run homer, making it nine to one. Like the day before, we were looking for a short game by way of the run rule, but you know, you still have to play seven. And although it was a scheduled pull the weeds day at my house, I was actually okay with them playing nine. Delayed that weed pulling for a little bit. In the fourth, uh, doer single was followed by a partita home run for 11-1 lead. Missouri scored three in the bottom of the fourth off Moss for 11-4 score. In the fifth, a counter walk was followed by another home run by Grahovac, making it 13-4. And Nico Partita added one more home run, and two pushed across by the Tigers brought the final to 14-6. So the Aggies finished with 12 hits, induced 10 walks and one hit batter. So if you're keeping score at home, let's see, what is that? 21 walks and five hit batters by the Missouri pitching staff. I was wanted them to be a little bit more competitive just to have a good baseball game and play good baseball, but they weren't. But that's okay. The boys won. Uh Grahovac and Partita added two hits for the day. All their hits were home runs, with Okopian and Dewar adding three hits each. Weston Moss went three and two thirds, gave up five hits, four runs, four walks, two K's, with Gavin Lyons throwing two inning pitches, two two innings pitched for the win, and Grant Cunningham going three and a third for the save. So game three, um it's kind of like watching a Tuesday night game at some points, these inferior opponents, but Missouri's they were scrappy, but you could tell they didn't have the depth. They obviously, you know, that's why they're at the bottom of the SEC. All right, so uh in the top of the second, uh single by Kelner, played Benderup, whom had walked, followed by Gavin Grahovac, three-run homer, scoring Boston and Bear, who also had walked. Uh the top of the third, uh walked to doer, shocker, followed by a bendy bomb to center. And then uh they gave up a base hit, a hit by pitch, and a walk, and that was all before a Grahovac Grand Slami. Grand Salami there, baby. So uh Sorrell hit his 14th, um, and that was another seven-run inning, third game in a row. So almost turned it off at this point because I was kind of tired of watching Missouri pitch. But anyway, uh it was kind of fun watching the boys bang the ball around the park and uh run the bases. Uh Missouri pushed two across in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run homer to right center, making it 11-3 aggs. In the sixth, Bender up doubled to left field down the line. An infield single by Jorian set up Bendy, scoring on a single by Harrison, making it 12-3. In the seventh, Dewar Homer to left field. I think he's off the scoreboard. I couldn't really tell, uh, scoring himself and a copian finishing the scoring at 14-3. On the mound in game three, Aiden Sims, he had a nice outing. I mean, he's five and a third, nine hits, three runs, a walk, and five Ks on 101 pitches. Vargas and Darden finished it out. So, all in all, I mean, a sweeps, a sweep is sweep is a sweep. A sweep is sweep. So it's you know, it was good that we got those three wins. I mean, those those are very important in the SEC. So it was nice to go on the road and get those. And plus, you never know what you're gonna get from Missouri when they're also playing at home and on turf field, and you know, they know their park. And so it was uh it was a good series win for us, and taking all three was really pretty cool. And so, I mean, things are gonna tick up now. Now that the Missouri series is over with, we've got tougher opponents on the horizon. So, like I said, I almost turned it off. Uh, but I like the boys crushing the opponent, and I but I still like to watch good baseball. And Missouri's pitching was just terrible with all the walks and the hip batters. Um, but I guess I do see why they don't throw strikes because they're they'd get hammered. Uh, it was a crazy weekend because the only series that was not a sweep was LSU and Kentucky. Vandy swept Tennessee, Florida swept number four Arkansas, uh, Texas swept OU. I've never believed OU anyway. Um, Alabama swept Auburn, number five Auburn, Georgia swept, I think South Carolina, and Mississippi swept Ole Miss. So, along with our sweep, is pretty crazy. There's only one series that was not a sweep. All right, so uh moving on to Vandy. Vandy's coming in to Bluebell. They're 17-12, uh, five and four in conference as well. And they have beaten LSU two out of three at home. They were swept by Mississippi State at Starkville, and they swept Tennessee at home. So, I mean, they're a scrappy team. We know that from last year and just playing them in years past. Uh, Tim Corbin's an outstanding coach there. Um, always has his team ready, knows how to get the best out of them. And then you, you know, they got a pretty decent pitching staff. They're kind of up and down. They'll they'll give it up in five innings, and then they'll they may shut you down for seven, six or seven. So um it looks like their third game starter, typically Sunday, obviously, or well, Saturday, this go round, is kind of Johnny Holstaff. And that's kind of what you see uh in these conference uh conference weekends, because not a lot of people have three you know top starters. I mean, Aiden Sims could be a Friday night starter on a lot of those teams in the conference. So, I mean, it's it's it's pretty pretty nice to have Aiden Sims coming in on Sunday to to finish up the series after they've already seen Sedeo and Moss. So that's that's pretty huge. And other teams just don't don't seem to have that third starter. But you know, Vandy's gonna be tough. And of course, it's the SEC, right? Anything can happen. And like I said, they're scrappy, but I do think they play better at home. I think they're built more for the turf than they are for the grass. And so, I mean, they've got 62 home runs to their opponent's 28. They've stolen 33 bags to their opponent's 16. Um, so I mean, 68 run score to their opponents have 81. So the games that they've been losing, they've been losing pretty good. So, anyway, I think uh it's gonna be a good series, but I I think we can definitely win the series. Do I think we can sweep? I don't know, but I think we got a good chance, and uh, you know, we're gonna pack the bell, right? So um last thing I want to mention here is Gavin Grahovac was SEC co-player of the week with a LSU second baseman. Gavin was four for ten with four home runs, one being a grand slam, four walks, a hit batter, seven runs scored, and twelve RBIs, all which with an injured hand. If you didn't see it, his hand got stepped on at first base. And boy, that must have really sparked him. Uh, Jorian Wilson earned the SEC freshman of the week. And he was six for twelve with two home runs and four RBIs. So, like I said, all in all, a sweep is sweet. And so it's nice to get those three wins.
